Composition and Materials

The 10mm (3/8”) Rod Display System, constructed from stainless steel, is a robust and heavy-duty suspension system designed to mount substantial loads effectively. The rods are available in standard lengths of 1.5m (4′ 11-1/16″), 1m (3′ 3-1/32″), and 0.5m (1′ 7-11/16″), each with a male thread at one end and a female thread at the other, allowing for the combination of multiple rods to achieve any desired length. When properly installed, the rods can support up to 200 kg (441 lbs) per fixing point, depending on the quality of the fixing.

For enhanced durability, all rod display fittings, internal components, and screws are crafted from #SS303 stainless steel alloy. This includes grub screws used with support fittings, which feature a Nylon 6-6 plastic tip. SS303 is a non-magnetic austenitic alloy, chosen for its improved machinability and its good mechanical and corrosion-resistant properties. It is generally resistant to atmospheric corrosion, cleaning solutions, sterilizing solutions, dyestuffs, and most organic chemicals, although it has limited resistance to acids. The ceiling and wall suspension tracks and rails for cable mounting are made from extruded aluminum alloy AL6063. All metal components are backed by a 12-month warranty, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.

10mm Rod Display System components come in Natural Stainless Steel Finish – machined polished for a satin/semi-gloss texture. High-gloss polished stainless steel or other finishes are also available upon request. Lead times will be longer and a minimum quantity may be required.

Product Limitations

For indoor and outdoor use — our stainless steel rod system and fittings perform well in both closed and open environments as long as there are not exposed to direct corrosive elements such as marine or submerged saltwater uses. For marine or other high humidity environments, please request stainless steel type 304/316 rods that have higher corrosion resistance. Follow the instructions and weight-bearing limitations indicated on the technical data-sheets.

Precautions / Performance and Safety

Please ensure that the product is used properly and in a safe manner, and for the specific application for which it was intended. It is crucial to verify that the strength of the top ceiling fixings can support the weight of the displayed items while accommodating the tension in the rods. All components must be compatible—please confirm that components such as panel and shelf supports, hooks, and other fittings used with the rod system are suitable to provide adequate safety protection. Attachments must be correctly installed and should not exceed the recommended Safety Working Load Limit. Isolators are utilized where power is required and when the rods and fixings are installed into metal or conductive materials. When fitting isolated rods, the top brass fitting must be replaced with the plastic isolators.

Environmental Considerations

Components are suggested and warranted for interior and exterior use. Nova Display Systems practices sustainability and recycling. Most of our display systems are fabricated from non-ferrous recycling metals — aluminum, stainless steel, brass, bronze and copper alloys. With close to 100 percent recyclable content, these metals can be repeatedly recycled into similar or other products with no loss of quality, as reprocessing does not damage their molecular structure.
